The timeout is a system designed to ensure that all customers have a fair chance to get thier tickets.

Once you have chosen your tickets, they are temporarily booked, so that no-one else can attempt to purchase them.

Once you have completed your transaction your seats are flagged as sold, if you cancel your order, or don't complete your transaction within the given time frame then the seats become available for everyone to book again.
